As of today the r6 autofocus is more stable and reliable. The a7iv has higher resolution, but the r6 has better color science. The r6 has higher frame rate which is very important when shooting wildlife. The r6 also has better ibis and low light performance. Canon rf lenses are expensive, but ef adapted lenses work very well too.
What Canon giveth with one hand, the cr!pple hammer taketh away with the other. The one thing that looked good, rolling shutter was very well controlled at least in stills using ES. Canon said it was faster read speed than R6, but how much faster R6 was about 1/50s in 12 bit, this looks like it could be faster than 1/60s, maybe 1/70-1/80s.The kit zoom delivers respectable image quality. Canon EOS R6, RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM at 68mm, 1/160sec at f/8, ISO 100. The elephant in the room, though, is video. The problem isn’t the quality of the EOS R6’s output, which is just fine, but the camera’s practical usability as a stills/video hybrid.
